The Dual 150 and 160 work very differently from how ADS-B devices handle GPS information, so comparing against a Stratux won't be apples-to-apples. The ADS-B devices send the GPS location information as an ownship report in the ADS-B data which goes directly into your EFB. Since the 150 and 160 don't have ADS-B, they work as an external GPS antenna updating the iOS location service, which the EFB then gets from the operating system.

Apple is constantly changing how iOS handles location data. Most recently, they made it so that if it thinks you're not moving, it stops sending GPS updates, presumably to save power. That causes iFly to report "No GPS Position Lock" until you start moving. Try walking 20 feet while holding the Dual and see if that GPS message goes away and it shows a good signal.

I flew yesterday and it does not get a signal  on ground ,in the air, or moving in the car. I tested just about every scenario I could think of and no results.  The IFY version isn’t displaying a gps signal and the moving map does not work, but the ForeFlight version does.  I have no problem with either app using my home assembled stratusx without gps. I do believe that Apple has changed something, but I don’t know if it’s harware or software or both. I can upgrade my stratux device to include a gps antenna and use IFLY, and I probably will,  but that does not solve the issue I’m having.  I have been a IFLY user for several years and I don’t plan on abandoning it.

You can get a GPS for your Stratux on Amazon for about $15.00.  It will work with all your devices and you won't need the Dual GPS

Have you downloaded the Dual XGPS Status Tool app? You might check the firmware version.

Yes. Firmware is the latest version and it doesnt work any differently from the previous version...and I hate to keep repeating myself, but it works on an older non cellular IPAD with a older IOS version and works perfectly with Foreflight on my new IPAD.
