I just bought a Samsung Tab A from COSTCO ($129.00). It is WiFi only and the screen is bright enough that I can see the display even though I have top glass in my Avid Flyer.

But wait...

It even has an outdoor screen mode. You go to display and touch the outdoor display and the brightness jumps up a LOT. However, that will use up battery quicker. I haven't had to use this function, but many might want it if they are running the tablet from aircraft power.

Thanks for your post, John - this may be the tablet I've been searching for. It doesn't use an AMOLED display, seems to have good brightness and the price is right. I'm going to check this one out!

Have used IFLY on my LG GPAD for hundreds of hours and don't see and screen burn.

One thing to look out for is that the unit gets very hot while running at bright screen mode for long hours especially if the tablet is exposed to the sun coming into the cockpit.
