I also use a Samsung Tab A 7" (2017), actually moved from a 10" tab to the 7".  The 10" was taking up to much real estate.  The 7" using a ram mount, sits within my scan while flying IFR, were as the 10" was just big enought I had to raise it up at the top of the panel, therefore having to look up  to see my charts, vs swiping right to left.  With the 10" in that position, I had to take it down for taxing, which was not conveninent.  I paid $125 for the 2017, it has GPS and WiFi, and work great with my Stratux unit.

The other good thing about the Samsung is it is not an apple smiley

Thanks for the info. Trying to keep it somewhat cheap to start with. I think I am just going to try the Gala xy Tab A 8". if it doesn't work I will give it to my wife for reading on. I have a little glare shield I can velcro to the top of it for some sun issues. Costco has them for $119 with a free 32 gb miniSd card. Almost can't not try it for that price. I always have my Note phone as a back up, that screen is readable in direct sunlight.

I use an anti-glare covering from NuShield.  Works good.

Also Samsung Tab A 7" . Anything bigger is too big for the RansS7S.
