The Stratus 3i is a version of the 3 that only pairs with the ESG ADS-B Transponder.  It can be remote mounted and it gets it's GPS and ADS-B data (via hard wire) from the ESG Transponder.  It does not have internal antennas other then wifi out.  Mine is on order.  The Airtex interior for my 182 is scheduled to be delivered by Fed-Ex tomorrow.  I will be doing the avionics work at the same time.  The fun begins.  The last major panel upgrade to both my airplanes happened when the former owner of my 182 and I flew to Oshkosh in 1988.  We both bought Loran-Cs.....

I'm scheduled to get Appareo/Stratus 3i in my Skyhawk starting Monday (22Oct18).  My research says it will talk to my Acer tablet W8.1 using IFlyGps.  I'm getting the Stratus hard wired and remoted to external antenna.  I'll know in a week or so if it will work.

I powered up the ESG / 3i for the first time this evening in my 182 and got it configured.  Using my iPhone 6S I downloaded the Stratus Horizon app and tried it out.  The Stratus app looks to be working, but I could not get the iFly app to connect to the 3i.  I will play with it more tomorrow with the 720 and an iPad.

Long winter project, I am about done with the panel work, about 1/2 done with the interior (Airtex) upgrade and then there is the Annual to complete...

Refer to Mike D.'s 9/25/2018 2:56 PM response from earlier in this thread.  There is an "Open ADSB" setting that must be set to "On" for iFly to receive data from the Stratus 3i.

I should add:  You should remember this process.  My Stratus 3 wasn't working the other day after I changed iFly versions.  I had forgotton all about the Open ADSB button.  It turned out that, somehow, my button got switched back to off.  So, if you find the Stratus not talking to your iFly, make a quick check of the Open ADSB button, even if you "know" it's turned on.
