I was to meet another plane in the air, and used FLIGHTRADAR24 to find him while I was starting up and planning on a re-join...

Some of these little apps are NICE to see and find other aircraft flying around - nice to know where they are!

He was NOT showing on my system yet, as I had not left the ground and my iFly and STRATUX were just getting started....

You're lucky with FlightRadar24, Mike. It has never showed my plane. (FlightAware has, but erratically.) However, FlightRadar showed another Searey landing in the Bahamas and several days later showed the same Searey approaching Florida and landing there to clear customs. All in all, so far I'm really disappointed by ADS-B.

Don,

Most of them do NOT show my plane either...but I can see others, most (but not all) of the time...

It's an "ok" system but still more of a "nice to have" for me. Had I not lived between 3-4 of the major ADSB veils, I would have waited, but I had to have it with all the "Circles of Doom" around me.

I am sure it will get better with time...

Folks,

Every fly over the ADSB towers to see what they look like?

We only have THREE in our region of Central PA, but one is near the city of YORK and RED LION, PA.

I happened to be on a X-C the other day and one was right along the route of flight...this is what they look like on the FISH-FINDER screen and then in REAL LIFE.

Thank you iFly for putting them on the screen for us! Nice to see where they are.

Towers--hah!  You know I've been disappointed because the ADS-B depictions of traffic are so unreliable. Well, here's the ADS-B tower nearest to my home airport, KFCI:

It's right on the field!  So why can't it see me take off or land?
