For my C-182 I am now looking at installing the Stratus ESG ADS-B Transponder. I got a quote from a local major Avionics shop that was below list price, and they will work with us on the installation (providing a harness and coax) during our upcoming annual inspection. I have a new Airtex interior trickling in also, so the interior is getting stripped out (finely). For about $3350, they will provide the Transponder, the Status-3i (that is a remote mounted unit that is powered and takes data from the ESG and puts out ADS-B in with WiFi) and provide a wiring harness and Coax. When completed we fly it to their shop for cert.
I plane to fly up and talk to them about it on Friday. Any feedback on the Stratus ESG?  Any feedback on how the Stratus 3 works with iFly?

For my Grumman Yankee, I plan to wait to see how the legal battle between uAvionix and Garmin works out before commiting...

We had the Stratus installed in our Skyhawk in about January.  We're having some minor issues with the signal sometimes saying we're in the air when we're on the ground, but the FAA says it's not terribly critical.  We haven't yet upgraded to the Stratus 3, and I don't have ForeFlight, or whatever the Apple App is, so I can't comment on that part of it.  Other than that it seems fine, we replaced our 1978 stock transponder.

The Status 3 is suppose to be multi platform supported.  On the Stratus website they list iFly as on that were working on supporting the 3...

App developers who have confirmed they’re working on supporting Stratus 3 include:

WingX – Version 9
FltPlan Go – Version 4.7.10 for iOS, 4.9.2 for Android, 2.6.10 for Windows
FlyQ – Version 3.2
iFly GPS

Can anyone confirm that iFly now or will soon support the Stratus 3?

Rich
