A Hard Lesson Learned: Part 1

A Hard Lesson Learned: Part 1

September 4, 2017, a day that will be etched into my mind until the day I die. Every year my best friend of 30+ years and I go out to the lake the weekend before early teal season to scout for ducks. This year was no different. I met him at his house, shot the bull and loaded up the truck.

Best Flight With Dad

Best Flight With Dad

The year was 1992, and it was a beautiful spring day.  I live in Maine, and my dad lived in Massachusetts, about 20 miles south of what was then called the Boston TCA, now marked as Class B airspace on my iFly.  We didn’t have GPS back then.  It sure makes navigating controlled airspace easier.

Tossing Hats & Changing Lives

Tossing Hats & Changing Lives

Recently a very nasty hail storm hit my airplane, a humble Grumman Traveler. We elected to sell it for salvage rather than have it repaired...there was just too much damage. And although not the prettiest or fastest aiprlane, it was my airplane...so this event has prompted a lot of reflection. I bought 1/3 ownership into the plane, and got my private license (in that order), shortly after a life changing flight through Mexico. This story is about that flight, written by Bill Strahan some years ago.
