Wouldn't it be a great idea if it were possible to -on-the-fly- insert a holding pattern in de current route with the right entry and what not...?

I'll bet you will be the first with such an option. I would even be willing to pay for it...!

Ronald, Are you asking to enable/activate a published holding pattern for an approach?  Or do you want to ad-hoc create a holding pattern by touching the map or somthing like that?

I suspect he's talking ad hoc like the GTN and IFD certified units do.

Oops Walter, sorry for being late. Actually both. But first ad hoc. We can see from there. I mean, we can make any holding ad hoc. Exactly as Mark also suggested before me...

Actually, iFly is part way there now.  iFly already depicts 45 degree Procedure Turns in anatomically correct form in IAPs.  When the PT is designed as a Hold, iFly does not do that ... yet.  That seems like a less than giant leap from 45 degree PT's, plus it should have a smidgeon of logic to depict the FAA approved entry procedure.  Then once a the Holding PT is developed, then it shouldn't be too tricky to make Missed Approach Holds appear in iFly.
