Brolin is the expert, so hopefully he'll chime in with an answer for you.

FYI, I did end up buying X-Plane, which I'm using on a Windows 10 PC... it works flawlessly with my iPad with iFlyGPS running.  So, as far as all that goes, it works as advertised.

(But not everything is perfect...  I find that any plane -- including the extremely stable Cessna 172 -- will drift (with wind turned off), and given enough time it will drift catastrophically.  In other words, their trim system is very coarse and doesn't allow the pilot to trim the flight so it's 100% hands-off.  Granted, this might be the controller I have, but I would expect X-Plane to have much, MUCH more sensitive trim controls.  Overall, though, I find the setup to be satisfactory and am enjoying teaching my wife the basics of flying and using the iFlyGPS software, which was the primary purpose.)

Hi Walter,

I can't get x-plane 11 connect to iFly GPS app on my iPhone or iPad, and I have updated to iFly GPS version 11, the latest!

X-plane 11 Running on Windows 10 64bit pro and good desktop!

Both the PC and ipad and iphone are all on the same WIFI, and the X-plane 11 network is broadcating to "all mapping apps on the network"!

Please advise!

Thanks,

Agholami, chances are there is something on your PC or your network that is blocking the transmission.  Difficult to say exactly what; but check your PC firewall make sure xPlane is allowed through.  And make sure all your devices are on the same network.  And make sure your network is not partitioned to prevent devices from seeing each other (some router's "Guest" networks will default to this behavior).  We're not really network guys here, so if this info is too coarse hopefully someone on the forum can provide better step by step guidance.

For anyone having trouble getting X-Plane to work with IFlyGPS, here is some info to help.

I'm new to IFlyGPS so with everyone being in virus isolation, I thought I would spend some time using X-Plane to get to know all the IFlyGPS features during an in flight scenario.

I'm using the IFlyGPS app ver:11.0.74  on a Samsung Tab 6 8.4" tablet w/ Android ver: 6.0.1 and on my Pixel 3aXL with Android ver: 10.

Initially, I couldn't get X-Plane to connect.  I knew the network was good and the tablet was on the same network.  I've connected X-Plane to other EFBs via multiple means so I'm familar with those settings and new everything was correct.  I felt like it had to be a setting in IFlyGPS.  What I found was that I had set my ADS-B device setting to "Stratux/Flightbox" because I had been testing my stratux with the app earlier.  As soon as I switched the device to "Auto Detect", the IFlyGPS app snapped to the X-Plane location.

Stangely, I could change the setting back to Stratux after it connected and it would stay connected...but on initial start, it had to be in the "Auto Detect" device setting in order to see the X--Plane data.  I repeated this mulitple times with consistency across both my devices.  Not sure why I didn't leave the setting in "Auto Detect" in the first place but I guess I'm a geek and like to push buttons.  In any case, if you're having issues connecting X-Plane to IFlyGPS and you've changed your ADS-B device setting away from "Auto-Detect", that could be your problem.

Perhaps something in the next manual update about needing the ADS-B device setting to be in "Auto Detect" might be worth including.

Very happy with the app.

v/r, Chad
