OP said "stratux" not "stratus".  Are any of these posts specific to "Stratus"?

I bought the Stratux just to have a stable synthetic vision, which is what it provided.

However, the horizontal horizon kept driftin and I wuld have to recalibrate.

I returned it to Spruce. Would still like to have stable synth vis.

The box you are referrin to is an attitude alert.

Stratux is an amazing value...but for obvious reasons not the highest quality product on the market. If a high quality AHRS is important, Astro Link is your best choice.  This also has more spit & polish than Stratux (internal antennas & battery), and IMO much better reliability.  Stratus III another good choice, battery lasts longer than Astro Link, but AHRS not as good as Astro Link (but still better than Stratux)

Sounds like you've already returned it, but it's possible it wasn't properly calibrated.  For anyone else having a similar problem, you could try the technique described here:
