Wish I could take a screenshot while iFly is running so I could post it here.

Observed several puzzling things while "flying" a flight plan in sim mode.

1) I can't add any instruments on the HITS side,

2) on the sectional side: flight plan is set to 6500 foot elevation --- ground is actually about 5000 ft MSL,  a) GPS elevation shows 6500, and that shows b) height agl is 6,002, and c) no instrument that I could find shows pitot/static elevation

3) back on the HITS side, while at GPS elevation of 6500, a) the HITS boxes are off by nearly 300 feet too low, b) having to constantly fiddle with XTE and climb rate to stay in the center of the little box, and c) have no clue what that strip is on the right hand side of the HITS is, labeled IND ALT and reads 903 while GPS ALT is 6500.

4) Can find no way to toggle airspeed strip on the left to mph versus kts per hour.

IMPORTANT: How is the autopilot (NMEA output) going to correspond to what I'm seeing on the HITS side?  I need to set a machine to capture that serial port output to determine, I guess, but that's kinda hard in my physical setup.

1) Can you elaborate please? What part of the process isn't working?

2) There's a separatre instrument for pressure altitude, called Altimeter (Indicated Altitude). As for the altitudes, I'd need to know where exactly it's happening so I can investigate.

3) Check the Altitude set for each waypoint.  Also, check the Altitude Planning screen to get an idea of what it's doing. If you're on the last leg of the flight plan, it might be trying to land.

4) It follows the global setting for units of measure. Menu -> Setup -> Units of Measure -> Speed/Distance

The HITS we draw is a visualization of the flight plan you've entered. It's then displayed relative to your position. When you add in autopilot, a second GPS message comes into play. Your current position is RMC, which is what we use for pretty much everything in iFly. There's also RMB, which is basically your intended position. We turn your flight plan into RMB messages, and send both to the autopilot. From there, it's up to the autopilot to figure out how to turn the aircraft to make RMC line up with RMB.

Responding by memory to your q's as I can't see your answer while I'm answering:

your 1.  Don't know how to expand on what I'm saying above.  If I could do a PrtScrn or even a small animation, I could show you.

your 2.  This particular instance is the Washington state area, beginning at Brewer, WA.  If you can import my flight plan, you could run it.  Can you do that?

your 3, etc.  Don't remember what your q's are and I can't see them.

FYI, when you click the "Reply" button next to a specific post (like Shaun's where he asks the questions), that post is shown for reference at the bottom of the page where you type your reply.  You can also "quote" a message when you reply, like I did here.

If you have a smartphone, you could take a photo or short movie with that.
