Rich,

Thanks again for the timely updates. I am sticking to the TailBeacon as my top selection of ADSB-OUT device, and will exercise some patience here and wait a bit for the dust to settle.

In the long-run, I believe it is worth the wait.  It is simple, saves money, non-intrusive installation, and when it is time to upgrade to the next big "new thing" we have to have, it will be easy to replace.  I am thinking "long-range/ low-price" on this one.

At my airport, we already have "early adaptors" (people who buy the first thing out of the chute) REPLACING the early ADSB gadgets foisted on the community at "great prices" of $5-$10K back in 2016 or so....newer things are smaller, faster, less-expensive and overall....better.  Sometimes it is worth it to just wait.

I am in an area where it is almost impractical to NOT have ADSB, but I am still going to wait...

Well...

Not a big deal or game-changer for anyone here, but...

The FAA is out of ADSB Refund money...if you don't have a reservation in by now, it's too late for 2019.

A buddy of mine went to the AOPA fly-in and everyone selling ADSB was warning people...so the herd got spooked and folks applied who may have JUST ordered one as you have 90 days + a 60 day extention...basically 5 months to actually get it done from the day you reserved.

So, that is that! Just passing it along...if you try to go to the site to reserve a rebate, you will be told you may no longer do so.

That's good. I never thought taxpayers should be footing the bill for ADS-B for aircraft owners. I'd rather use taxpayer dollars to fund health care for those who need help. If you can afford an airplane, you can afford ADS-B out.

Just to be clear, they did not STOP the program, they simply filled 100% the slots they had of apportioned and allocated money for this incentive.

Apparently, it had the desired effect, so that is that!  I have no idea what the total outlay was...

Don't be surprised if they offer it again...in 2020!

Something like "$220 for ADSB in 2020" or something akin to that!
