Just purchased a Stratus ESG 3i. Went through the network settings on my iFly 740b and it wouldn't connect to "Stratus III," but does connect on "Stratus 1." Shows the units are connected via wifi, but no heart beats. Read some commments about having to enable Open ADS-B and have looked all over the iFly, but can't find any way to do this. I don't own an iPad, iPhone, or any other Apple devices. I'm an Android guy. Is there any way without having to go purchase an iPad (which totally defeats the purpose of having the iFly) to get iFly 740b to display traffic and weather info??? If so, can someone please provide steps? Thanks.

I posted this in an earlier discussion about the ESG:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Download and install the Stratus Horizon Pro app on an iPad/iPhone and turn the "Open ADSB" switch to the On position while it's connected to your 3i.
Or
Download and install the FltPlanGo App and connect that to your 3i.  This on apparently turns on the Stratus Open ADSB automatically, and will then allow iFly to gather the information.
There may be other ways, or apps that can accomplish this, but these are the only two that Stratus/Appareo told me about.
iFly will connect to the Stratus 3i WiFi without the Open ADSB switch turned on, but iFly will not be able to get any information from the Stratus 3i.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Another thing of note that I've discovered.  At least twice, the "Open ADSB" has needed to be turned on with my iPad.  I'm not sure what is causing this, perhaps if it doesn't connect with a WiFi source for a given amount of time, perhaps it just resets every so often.  I really don't know.  Just be aware that you might want to make sure you always have a way to turn the Open ADSB feature on each time you fly.

I see traffic!

Just wanted to report back that I was able to get back out to the airport this past weekend and got my Stratus III ESGi working with my iFly 740b. Being an Android guy, I downloaded the FltPlan Go android app and was able to connect to the Stratus III which did trigger the Open ADS-B as Mike mentioned. disconnected, then connected and this time I could connect with Stratus III, got heartbeats, and was able to see traffic. Took her for a test flight and all worked well.

One note to folks is FltPlan Go app does not seem to play well with older android devices. I first loaded it on my tablet (a Google Nexus) because I have the iFly app on it as a backup, but it would not connect. Loaded FltPlan Go on my Galaxy S6 and it worked fine to connect to the Stratus III.

Thanks for the info and solution for us non-=aple guys :)
