Is it possible to cut and reterminate the external GPS antenna wire lead? There's a lot of wire attached to that antenna! My Archer is big, but not that big!! If you don't recommend an owner doing this, would an electronics shop be able to do so properly?

Thanks

Bruce,

Honestly, I've not tried this so cannot really make a recomendation. It's quite possible the signal would degrade, or noise could be introduced, if not properly spliced. Are there any GPS antenna guru's out there with thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Walter

The signal carried through the cable is RF (radio frequency) so the cable is coax - it has an inner conductor surrounded by an outer shield. To properly shorten the cable you would need to cut to the desired length and then attach/terminate a new end connector. This usually involves crimping or soldering. A good 2-way radio or electronic shop should be able to get the proper connector and perform this service.

The iFly GPS antenna technical specs indicate it uses an MCX type connector: http://ifly.adventurepilot.com/shop-t...
