Walter:

The new version 5.07 is absolutely fantastic! Had a chance to run it from upstate NY to Sun 'n Fun / Naples and back. Temperatures ran from below freezing at the start to 90° at Naples. Sorry I didn't have time to visit you at SNF; that's where I bought my unit last year.

The best change IMHO is the airport data page, which I was not able to see before. Runway diagram is also great for unfamiliar larger airports. Easy switch from Sectional to Terminal charts is fantastic, as in traversing the NYC Hudson corridor. Also tried the extended centerline trick and it was magic. Also love the little blue line, which gives me a current direct-to when there is a need for an offset from the plan for restricted airspace. Magnetic directions help a lot. Vertical speed is nice (no gyros in my Citabria). Did I mention I love my iFly?

A couple of notes:

1) When touching the Flight Plan Button in mid-air, I inadvertently reversed the plan; this could be bad. I think this has to do with the button being in the same location as the "reverse" button and possibly I was holding on too long or hitting it twice. This is unavoidable in less than smooth air.

2) When touching the screen close to the edge, the Options button either did not appear, or was off the screen or behind the instruments. Would it be possible in these cases for the Option button to locate inward?

3) When cutting a corner approaching a waypoint, the ETE gets unusable; would it be possible to indicate ETE/Distance to the next waypoint. This is not critical and I can certainly live with it the way it is.

4) (FYI) I had purchased the GlareStomper hood a while ago and this was my first chance to fly it. Worked a treat even with the sun directly ahead or behind. Did have to shade my eyes at times, but the screen worked really well.

5) (FYI) Removed the NuShield screen protector as per your suggestion and the touch seemed a little easier. Glad to know my ham-fisted fingers will not harm the screen. Also per your suggestion, I often used my fingernail, and that worked great. Now I have to work on not biting my nails

Again, thank you for a great product with the best support I have received from any aviation vendor in my 36 years of flying.

Hi Robert, glad you like your iFly! Responses to your suggestions:

1) Good point; noted.

2) Good idea, I'll add this to the feature list. In the meantime (I'm sure you already figured this out) just sweep your finger to move the map and make the button visible.

3) Sorry...not tracking this. What is the problem?

4) BTW, we now also have sun visors available on our store (private labeled versions of the glare stomper)

5) ;-).

Thanks,
Walter

Sorry: When approaching an intermediate waypoint "A", I turn toward the next waypoint "B" prior to reaching "A".

Thanks,

It should automatically transition you to the next waypoint and the ETE and Distance to Waypoint instruments should reflect this. Are you saying this transition doesn't happen quickly enough? If so, you can force it to happen sooner by touching the next waypoint and selecting "Direct to this waypoint"

Does this help?

Thanks,
Walter
