Can the Stratux be powered by the USB port on the iFly 740B? If it can be powered from that port, will the iFly 740B get data via the USB or WiFI? Can a 12 foot USB cord be used or is that too long?

No response to my questions so I tried powering the Stratux from the iFly740b USB poet. It works great.

It is not recommended that you power the Stratux with your iFlyGPS unit.

The unit does not supply enough power to function properly.

You need a 5V 2.0A power supply for the Stratux.

Herman,

If you do not get a response quick enough on the forums here feel free to drop us an email to support@adventurepilot.com.

To answer your question no, it is not recommended the Stratux be run off of the unit. The unit does not have enough power to supply the Stratux properly. The Stratux uses WIFI. There is not a hard wire technique. If you are running off the USB on the 'b' you will still need to go into the WIFI settings on start up page and connect.
