i assume the side with the red LED should point skywards?  do the antennae wires need to be straight out?  should mounting under a layer of foam board [my visor material] be a problem?  my unit was working fine.  i bought a new angled USB cable to eliminate the tight bend of the straight one that came with the unit.  now i don't have ADS/B working.  the GPS  under settings says "X", but it correctly tracks the plane.  i tried flipping the PING over, but that didn't seem to make a difference.  i tried RESET and then lots of stuff   lost their check marks.  i tried plugging on the original cord and the same results.  how long do i wait for it to work?  why doesn't the CONNECT TO DEVICE screen have the PING?  does a flashing red LED on the PING mean it is working?  before i just laid the PING on top of the visor and everything worked fine.  the new angle USB cord is very short so i attempted to mount the PING under the foam board, on top of aluminum which covers the backside of the panel from above.[RV6 tiltup canopy].

i find nothing in the users manual about debugging ADS/B problems.

The Ping doesn't have a GPS chip in it, so it'll never receive GPS messages. I explained how the ADS-B status page works on your post from 14 minutes before this one.
