I noticed a potential problem with iFly Connect this evening.  I was updating my SD card with the beta software, and it listed a bunch of extra files that needed to be updated.  However, when I put in my extra SD card with the Production software (in case the beta software encounters a significant problem in flight) it not only confirmed that I had the latest production software, but I didn't need to update any other files.  Just to confirm, I exited out of that routine, left the card in, ran iFly Connect again, and clicked on the Beta option.  Sure enough the beta software as well as the whole list of other files appeared.  So, why would iFly Connect say I needed to update files for one version, but not for the other?

It's not a problem, Mike.  The Beta and Producton servers don't follow the same schedule.  Walter provided some insight into this a few months ago, and said:  "We download [from FAA] and compile the charts for use in iFly software, then we test everything internally, then we publish to our server for Beta users to download - typically a day or two or three prior to public release. "

This approach provides an opportunity for the beta team to potentialy identify issues with new data before it's provided to all users.
