That sounds like a possibility, though the red rectangle did not seem to be centered on a nearby tower. Too bad I didn't think to get a screenshot.

Got it figured out. We had some pretty active weather on the way home from Idaho this week. The nexrad depictions cut off sharply at the red line. So, it looks like the red rectangle shows the limits of ADS-B nexrad coverage. Sometimes it showed the entire country, sometimes it only showed the boxed area. That was with Stratux in only.
