Dear iFly GPS Customer,

Thank you for your use and support of our iFly GPS app. We are continually striving to make your personal piloting experience the safest, most enjoyable, and simplest that it can be.

Here at Adventure Pilot we first released iFly GPS in 2009. At that time the base subscription fee was $69 per year.  Since that initial release nine years ago, we have added hundreds of new features and benefits to enhance the app. During that period we have been successful at maintaining our product quality, and continually improving its functionality, without any significant change to our base subscription price.

Today we find our company poised for some important growth. In conjunction with these opportunities we need to recognize that our costs have gone up. This is partly due to inflation and a general increase in costs from our data suppliers.

As a result, as of January 25th we will be increasing our basic VFR subscription rate to $79.99, and our IFR rate to $129.99. Our Multi-Platform Option will be increased to $24.99.

As an accommodation to our loyal customers we are giving this advance notice so you have time to renew at their previous price. We will simply add the additional year onto whatever time is left on your current subscription. You may initiate the renewal at any time prior to price change on our website: https://www.iflygps.com/STORE/Product...ta-subscription

Again, we greatly appreciate your business. We are always anxious to hear your comments and suggestions. If you have any questions kindly contact one of our customer service representatives at (214) 585-0444.

Warmest regards,

Walter Boyd
President

AP has been continually improving their product and adding features since its debut, and there have been no price increases over all that time.  The multi-platform addon also covers more devices now than it used to, and the price did not go up when that allowance was increased.

Overall, I'd argue that iFly is way more than 19.2% better today than it was at v1.0, but that's not actually a fair comparison.

Inflation in the US has caused prices to rise about 17% from 2009 to today, so iFly's price increase is only abuot 2% above inflation.  A fair question would be, "Is iFly today more than 2% more valuable to me than it was in 2009?"

Personally, I think iFly's price increase is fair.  Reasonable people may disagree

Whether fair or no, every individual must choose whether the cost is worth it for them.

I don't have a problem with a price increase for a good product. iFly is one of the best out there based on my familiarity with about a dozen EFBs.

What I do wonder about is an increase in the context of what I see as a lot of Garmin instrument cockpits with GTX or FlightStream, unless iFly is able to read them. In my own flying, almost all of the airplanes I fly these days have one or the other. The result is, I'm am using my iFly/Stratux combination less and less compared to my compatible EFB.

This may be a non-issue for the bulk of the iFly user base and target market. Hope so.
