Dreams, try this: Use a toothpick to flip off the tiny "battery" switch on the bottom of the unit.  Then plug it into AC power.  Once it's booted up, turn the battery back on.  Let it sit for several hours to recharge the battery.  It should work normally after you battery has a little charge. Please post your results.

I just took delivery of a 740b from Aircraft Spruce, had to do the battery switch cycle thing as described above out of the box.  Let it charge all day, unplugged it from the wall charger, it booted up just fine on battery power. Battery icon indicated full charge.  Shut it down, took it out to the hangar to design my panel mount. Tried to boot it up on battery power. Nothing. Cycled the battery switch again with a pick from my toolbox, then it booted up OK.  Battery icon still depicted a full charge.  Does the 740b require a battery switch cycle before every battery-powered boot?

Jim,

Typically it does not,  I know I have worked with you personally in getting this resolved, but for others who are experiencing this same issue, I would go ahead and contact support directly, because this could be an issue requiring an actual repair.

Thanks Logan, appreciate the response and enjoy working with you on this.  It has not behaved irregularly since the second episode, so I will “fly it and watch it” for a while. If it misbehaves again I’ll contact you.

Jim
