Hi All, I just received my Ifly and I'm anxious to use it.. I've been using a friends for the last week and finally purchased my own..

Last night, 10/12/10, right out of the box, I first updated to the new Vs 4.07 software, then updated the sectionals, charts, Low routes, etc.. The update file was 182mb. After that, the unit locked up twice on me. Once while I was turning off and on the distance rings, then once while I was touching the screen to get info.. The red circles for the info locked about 180 degrees around. Had to pull the power cord both times.... Also, screen drag was very slow and jumpy.

Am I running into a memory issue here? Should the unit be capable of storing all the information without locking up?

This morning, I opted to remove some of the sectionals that were not going to be used.. I'll give that a try and see if I still lock up.... Any advice is appreciated... I want this unit to work ! Everything I've read and seen says this unit is the one to have... Great support, User Friendly, and priced to sell..

Wade

Hi Wade,

I'm sorry you are having this problem. The software is not perfect, but our know bugs should show up only rarely. I've had a few reports in the past several weeks of seemingly random and frequent lock-ups. I don't believe it's a bug or a memory problem, I think it is faulty hardware, and we need to replace your unit. We will e-mail you a UPS label to return your iFly (just the unit with the SD card included, you don't need to send the accessories). We will return a new unit to you as soon as we receive your bad one. Again, sorry for the trouble and thank you for not losing all faith in us!

-Walter

BTW, I've got a thread started with my hardware provider about this issue, and we're sending him a couple of units that have failed in this manner so they can test and get to the bottom of the problem. I'm also adding a multi-hour "burn in" test to our existing testing procedures, so we can find these units before they go out the door.

Hi Walter, I just received this yesterday and have returned the one I borrowed from my friend...

1)Can you do me a good faith jesture and send me out one, you will deffinately get this one returned as soon as the other one arrives... then I can use this until the new one arrives? (that way at least I have something to use for a week)

2)Will I get another New one that is different?

3)Will I have to re-register with the new S/N?

Thanks,

Wade Leveille

Thanks Walter,

What I meant was, do you think the one you are sending will be different from what I have because of a known problem component/circuit? Or ,do you suspect the issue may be attributed randomly to hardware, such as with electrical components which may be on the low end of the tolerance spec...

Regardless, your attention to customer issues/satisfaction if commendable.

Thanks again,

Wade Leveille
