Can a small 12 volt battery of the type used in small lawn tractors be used with the cigarette lighter adaptor plug?

I would think you should be able to use any 12v battery. Personally, I use a 12V 7ah battery such as this one:

Also, sometime ago, Lowrance used to see similar batteries to use with their Airmap 1000 and 2000 systems. I've found that these batteries will power any handheld well over 6 hours without any problems. You can find 110V chargers for these batteries at a low cost at about any Walmart or Radio Shack.

As a follow up to my question about using a small lawn tractor battery as a power source for the Ifly700, I have been using the battery for the past 15 hours of flying and it is great! The battery is small and clearly lasts a long time. Prior to using the battery I was using the cigarette lighter plug in my RV4 for the Ifly700. The problem was that a circuit breaker would invariably pop if the strobe light was turned on while the gps was powered by the cigarette lighter plug. The plug could be used for other accessories, but not the gps. There were no abnormalities in the aircraft's electrical system. The Ifly gps is a great piece of equipment. I would recommend that other's consider the simple solution of using a small lawn tractor/motorcycle battery.
