What's the current draw for the IFly700, at say, 12-14 volts? Haven't found this anywhere.

I can tell you that the cigarette lighter adapter is fused @ 2 Amps fast-blow 250 Volts. The tip screws off to replace the fuse.

Hope this helps,

Don

When full bright the iFly draws 600mah at 12v.

Could you confirm, the iFly only draws 600 milliamps max? At 12V, that's only 7.2W, which seems a little low to me (but I'm no expert in current consumption for small electronics!).

If true, that's good news. I'm thinking about cobbling together a homemade rechargeable battery pack, and it seems like 8 2500mah AAs in series might provide a reasonable runtime for me, depending on battery performance and iFly voltage tolerance.

Correct, 600mah at 12 volts. Keep in mind AA batteries are 2500 mah at 1.5 volts, and you only get that many amp hours from an AA in a slow-discharge environment. I'd guess you will get an hour of iFly power with 8 batteries.

If you want to go with an off the shelf solution, here is an interesting option: http://www.21st-century-goods.com/pro... (This is not an endorsement. I got one of these and the device is cool...but the included batteries were crappy. I'd replace them with a name brand of some sort)
