I have been getting a "shadow" of my airplane on the 740/PingBuddy combination with -0- as altitude and it has not gone away. Today that target kept switching between 0 and -3(00). How do I get rid of this annoying and scary intruder?

Another question: I got a multitude of traffic at Ripon. Since we are supposed to shut off the transponder within 30 miles, why did they show up? These are small mostly 1 or 2-seaters who are not likely to have ADSB Out installed. Where is that traffic coming from?

Maybe a close by aircraft left their ADS-B out turned on.

The FAA mandates that the ADSB OUT be powered when the master or avionics master switch is on unlike the old transponders which did not tirn on until you manually turned them on or they were turned on by your Garmin Navigator at 30 knots speed.

The traffic you are seeing is probably coming from the ground station, not air-to-air.  Some "ghosts" are not reasonable to detect automatically, if this happens you can touch the target and select the "Track" option.  This will exclude the target from the alert system.
