new user comments for improvements...

1. Noted that when zoomed in (KPSN) and flying north (Houston sectional to Dallas sectional) the map doesn't change until I am at F44 or further. That big white space scares me...like that sailing off the edge of the world picture, lol

2. Zoom level should be displayed for ease of distance estimation. I happened to know the lcl airport length so use that, but......

3. Plane should be slightly more offset down to give further lookahead view in course up mode. (I can't follow plane, I'm in plane, that bothered me - course up would be nice - plane view maybe?)

4. Plane shows to the riht of a NB track on one gps while the other (brand L) shows tracking left of the track (same track incepts) or I'm an idot (choose one, or both, lol)

5. Any way to put up an leg length of a route on the dilye instruments display? Rate of climb? (Not that it matters in my old Beech...where a "Whenever flag would work).

6. Is there any plan to add an RSS feed so we can get the map updates as soon as they happen? (See the "I may be an idiot" dislcaimer if there is one...

Thanks for your input and feedback on your forum post. I'll try to clear up some of your questions and comments. Also, feel free to contact us if you are ever unclear or need some assistance with the capabilities. Feel free to email support@adventurepilot.com or call 888-200-5129 for assistance.

  1. The plane icon should switch when you hit the white border. There is a chance that you may have touched the screen or panning around the charts. This disables the tracking function to allow you to explore the charts without snapping back. You can enable "Auto Track Plane" in the Setup menu. This will snap back to your position, at your desired time selection. We have not had this issue, however we have noted this transition and will look into it further. You can also touch "Switch Maps" if you would like to transistion to the next chart earlier.
  2. You might try going into the Setup Menu -> Map Setting and enable the distance rings. Visible and annotated will show dynamic mile tags as you zoom in and out.
  3. At above approximately 60kts the plane icon is skewed toward the bottom or rearward edge of the screen, depending on if you are in Track Up or North Up mode. This adds situational awareness around your position. For instance, you may want to reference a distance to a point behind you or need to fly to a nearby airport behind you in an emergency. We give about 80% forward view and only 20% rearward view. The "Follow Plane" button is a tracking function to begin tracking your current gps location again.
  4. You can add Distance to Final, Distance to Waypoint as well as a Vertical Speed instruments from the "Customize Instruments" in the Setup Menu. Vertical speed will give your ascent or descent in feet per minute. These should give you the information you are looking for.
  5. We are adding a monthly newsletter and email notification to send out to users and data subscribers. These will tell subscribers what new data is updated and that it is ready. We wil also add recent news as well. Not all users are familiar with RSS or have an RSS reader. An automated notification may not be the best in this case as data and timing changes. Email seems most widely accepted. We will continue to look at new options as well.

I hope this helps with some of the confusion. We appreciate your feedback and continue to look at new features and enhancements. Have a great day and happy flying.

I'm in the middle of a trip from MDW to DVT then back. I too noticed that it didn't switch maps until it hit the white border. I think I'd prefer it to switch either as soon as the little plane will appear on the new map, or somewhere between. If you're heading to somewhere just past the white "end of the earth" line, it takes a consious effort to make the change. I suppose it's not a big deal in the scheme of things, none the less...
