I get the error message that "the update is not intended for this device" when I try to load the update. I tried downloading a second time and the usb drive has nothign but the one zip file on it. Could this be caused by having the wrong serial number registered to my account? I ask since I was confused with one serial number on the box being different than the one on the unit. I used the one on the box. Maybe it should have been the one on the unit? But on the unit it does not say s/n or serial number.

Yeah - we mixed up some of the boxes before we realized some folks might pay attention to that serial number sticker on the box, then we stopped doing that ;-). We also log the serial number's we ship out - so I will fix your account manually. Try again in 5 minutes.

I downloaded a new file and tried it again. This time I got the message that the license files is missing or corrupt. FYI the back of my unit says MB030150. Is that what needs to be matched up in my account?

Danny, yes, that is the serial number I added to your account. That is an unusual message, but probably unrelated to the serial number change. Can you try the update again, doing just TFRs & METARs (to keep the file size small), and be sure to properly eject the USB Flash Drive from your computer. If that works, try doing the big update again; let's hope that was a fluke. If not, give us a call Monday and we'll debug this over the phone.

I got the same message...the one about missing or corrupt license file.

Let me add more details starting from the beginning. After I tried the first update where the serial numbers did not match the system does not function normally. I get a distorted main system menu screen. I call the main system menu the one with the buttons along the botton starting with Navigate and ends with additional buttons. The distortion is like somone wiped their finger across a painting and all the buttons images are smudged.

This is what I just tried:

1. Downloaded a new file with only the metar and tfr's. Save to thumb drive nothing else on it. Click button to properly allow the usb drive to disconnect.

2. Plug the USB drive into the i700. Power the unit on,

3. I see the status bar grow red from left to right and then a bell goes off giving me at "Fatal Application Error" with the following message.

Application RemoteControllerHander.exe has performed an illegal operation and will shut down. If this persists, contact your program vendor. Program: RemoteControlHandler.exe,Exception: 0xC0000005, Address: 00000000. There is a button to click "OK" on the top right

4. I click ok, which removes the message and leaves you on the main system menu.

5. I click where I think the navigate button should be and it says there is an update would you like to load it.

6. I click yes and that is when I get the corrupt or missing license file message with remove the usb and click ok.

7. After removing the usb and clicking ok it brings me to the **** warning *** screan which I click the accept message at the botton.

8. The another "license file error #2" message apears that say there is a corrupt or missing license file. Please ensure that proper SD card is securly inserted....I do check it is inserted by removing it and re-inserting it.

9. I reboot the unit by unplugging it and plugging it back in (waiting 30 seconds between).

10. The same happens without the USB drive with the update on it.

Sorry, I should have told you all this at first but I did not think much of it since I thought the update would clear it all out.

I have also now gone and tried the GPS and factory reset. After selecting the GPS reset and clicking "YES" it give me a message that says Unable to perform a reset, the following error occured: An error message is available but not displayed for this exception but cannot be displayed because these messages are optional and are not currently installed on this device. Please install 'NETCFv35.messages.EN.wm.CAB for windows mobile 5.0 and above....OK button brings me back to the GPS menu.

Thanks for the help. I understand mistakes happen and we will figure it all out.

Danny
