Ronald,

I'm with you.  Here is a request of mine for iFly to generate a HITS for Holding Patterns that are already depicted in IAPs as Procedure Turns or as Missed Approach holds.

https://www.iflygps.com/Support/Forum...ope/posts#36291

I didn't branch off into Pop-Up Holds simply because they are not charted, and maybe tougher to justify.  But I think a HITS for Pop-ups like that are a very good idea, being the type of horizontal situation that iFly can depict that a VHF NAV radio and HSI cannot.  Just a couple of days ago, I uttered the "H" word and was advised as to the rarity of doing Holds.  But I like to think about holds the way I think about fire extinguishers ... something that I have, and I'm proficient at using, but never needed to use so far, knock on wood ... and yet I still have.

BTW I've been looking at a GNX-375 as a way to get ADS-B Out and GPS Nav in one box.  And checking the Pilots Guide, that navigator does indeed allow you to define a holding pattern either at a waypoint that is already in the FP or to a Direct-To waypoint.  And as the video demonstrates, it helps to remove any ambiguity of what the holding clearance expects you to do.  Now I just need to convince the folks down at the lottery office to help me acquire that kilo-buck box.

And as an aside ... I notice that Garmin's video randomly selected KBUY as a destination.  So now if I am reciting "... KBUY.  'K BUY.  OK, BUY! ..." in my head, could it be because of some sort of subliminal advertizing?

Hi Doug,

Wauw, you came prepared. I don't understand most of the answers however. I think it is a legitimate request. I think it's up to the pilot how he/she uses it. I use iFly in general as backup for the actual IFR rated instruments in the plane. You know, like the six T's but with an extra iFly... But it looks like the emphasis lays on Real Path... Oh well, we'll see...
