I am writing to suggest two minor items that would enhance iFly GPS flight planning accuracy and fuel awareness.

As you are well aware currently you allow the aircraft to be user customized for flight planning in climb, cruise and descent. I would like to account for fuel used for takeoff. The F-16, an aircraft I used to fly, would use about 1600lbs for afterburner takeoff. The aircraft I currently fly, a 1949 Globe Swift, uses about a gallon. Currently iFG does not account for takeoff fuel. I would like to see s field for takeoff fuel in the aircraft customization page.

Currently the Flight Planning page displays the fuel at each turn point, but not the fuel used at each landing (which would be the aggregate fuel used from TO to landing). I often have turn points or bends, but no landings, on a planned flight. The fuel used to each bend is traditional but what is really needed is fuel used at each landing. Currently I have to mentally sum up each turnpoint leg fuel to find my fuel used when I land. For example, on a long cross country my Swift might have to have several fuel stops. I want to know fuel used estimated at the fuel stop landing.

And, if I may be so bold, I find myself looking for a rubber band "distance and or fuel burn" tool. For example, say I want to go about 200 miles or about 16 gallons and refuel. I could enable the fuel price feature, attach one end of the rubber band tool, and estimate the distance/fuel to find the best refueling airport.

Thanks!

Hey Tom,

Welcome to the forum - very cool that you used to fly the F-16.  I am from AC-130's but long ago now...

Tom, great suggestions. May I suggest you might consider putting these good ideas in the "Wish List" thread above? Might get more views and action up there.  I think this one is for photos, etc. Nothing wrong with asking for something here, but may get more attention in the prescribed section.

Not sure if you are still in the USAF or retired/ separated?  There are parts I miss and parts I don't, but glad I did my 27 years!

Take care and see you around - Mike
